215 Youths to Graduate From Explorer Academy

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and Reserve Capt. James “Ray” Wells, Industry Station, are scheduled to deliver the keynote address at a graduation ceremony Saturday for 215 new law enforcement Explorers.

The new team of Explorers are from Altadena, Carson, Century, Cerritos, Compton, the Crescenta Valley, East Los Angeles, Industry, Lakewood, Lancaster, Lomita, Malibu/Lost Hills, Marina del Rey, Norwalk, Palmdale, Pico Rivera, San Dimas, the Santa Clarita Valley, South Los Angeles, Temple and the Walnut/Diamond Bar sheriff’s stations of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Baca will also be joined by the San Bernardino County sheriff and police chiefs from Baldwin Park, Baldwin Park Unified School District, Bell Gardens, Burbank, Huntington Park, Irwindale, Long Beach, Montebello, Montebello School, Monterey Park, Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, Pasadena, San Fernando, West Covina and Whittier police departments, who will present diplomas to their graduates.

The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Whittier High School auditorium in Whittier.
